Little kids don’t mean a little life.

That’s what I kept telling myself when everyone around me seemed to be putting travel on hold until their kids were older. And then I just… kept going anyway.
Hi, I’m Madison — a Florida mom of two toddlers, a full-time professional, and someone who has absolutely no business being this well-traveled right now. Some of our trips have gone perfectly. Some have been complete chaos. All of them have been worth it.
I started The Family Takeoff because I couldn’t find the kind of travel content I actually needed. Not the polished, everything-went-beautifully version. The real version — what the hotel was actually like with a pack-n-play in the corner, whether the flight was survivable, what my kids actually loved versus what looked good on paper.

I’m not a full-time traveler. I have a demanding career, two toddlers who are firmly in their chaos era, a packed schedule, and approximately zero spare time. If I can pull off trips to Scotland, Switzerland, the Caribbean, and Kennedy Space Center on launch night — you can too. And I want to help you do it.
Here you’ll find honest destination guides, real hotel reviews, packing lists that actually work, and the kind of advice you only get from someone who’s been there. With two toddlers. In the middle of a full life.
We’re also Gulf Coast Florida locals — which means when we’re not catching flights, we’re exploring our own backyard. The beaches, the state parks, the hidden spots most tourists never find. I cover all of it here, because great family adventures don’t always require a passport. Sometimes they just require knowing where to look.
I’m also a licensed travel advisor. If you want someone to do the planning for you — finding the right hotel, requesting upgrades before you even arrive, building a custom itinerary — that’s something I do for a small number of families each month. And it doesn’t cost you anything extra to book through me.
But whether you’re here for the guides or the planning help, I’m glad you found this place.
Traveling with kids isn’t always easy. But it’s always worth it.
